Overview / Mechanics
Welcome to Saintcraft! Our server is a highly complex blend of third-party and custom (in-house) features. While some elements may feel familiar, we’ve reimagined them in unique and innovative ways. Saintcraft is packed with distinctive features for you to explore and enjoy. This page provides an overview of the key mechanics on our server.
The Overworld
The Overworld, colloquially known as the Heartlands, serves as the main and only world on Saintcraft. Unlike many servers, the Overworld never resets. However, it is not infinite; the world border expands incrementally, growing by a few thousand blocks each week to accommodate the needs of its inhabitants. The Overworld itself is uniquely designed and heavily modified, tailored specifically to provide an experience that is exclusive to Saintcraft.
Spawn
Spawn is located near the center of the world, situated within one of the many oceans. This floating island serves as the first landmark adventurers encounter, acting as a hub for meeting, hanging out, and trading. It’s also a focal point for various activities. NPCs, offering quests and other interactions, are commonly found at Spawn.
At A Glance
The server can feel overwhelming for new players, so we’ve compiled the most important terms and functions in a quick overview below:
- Spawn: The area where you first arrive in the game, located on a floating island at coordinates Y:0, X:0 (the center). You can leave Spawn by jumping off the island or using teleportation commands.
-
Home: When you sleep in a bed, the game saves its location as your home. You can use the
/home
command to teleport to that bed, even if it has been destroyed. -
Market: The area where you can buy and sell items. Access it with the
/market
command. -
Claim: Land chunks that you can own to protect your area from other players. Use the
/claim
command to claim land. -
Wanted Level: A system that tracks how much you are wanted by the law. Your wanted level increases when you kill players or break laws. Check it using the
/wanted
command. - Credits: The server's currency, earned by playing the game. Use Credits to purchase items from the Market or NPCs.
- Nasir: A merchant located at Spawn. Nasir sells various items in exchange for Credits.
-
Map: The server's map, which you can view by using the
/map
command or visiting this link. -
PVP Mode: A mode that enables player-versus-player combat. Toggle it on or off with the
/pvpmode
command. - Levels: Your rank level, which can be increased by purchasing a Level Up Book from Nasir. Higher levels grant access to more features and earn you additional Credits.
Economy
The economy of the Saintcraft Overworld operates using a virtual currency known as CR$. Unlike traditional in-game currencies, CR$ is not tied to items but is instead linked to time. This means players earn money based on the time they spend in the game. Players have the option to engage with the overarching economy or create their own independent economic systems within their kingdoms.
CR$ / Credits
The main currency in the Saintcraft Overworld is the CR$ (which players can interpret as either "Credits" or "Crowns," depending on personal preference). The value of the currency is directly tied to time, with 1 CR$ equaling 1 minute of gameplay.
Players are paid every 10 minutes spent in the game. Additionally, if a player remains active for 60 consecutive minutes without logging out, they receive a x2 multiplier, effectively doubling their earnings.
Tokens
Tokens are the secondary currency in Saintcraft. They can be obtained in several ways: directly purchased from the store, included with ranks or donations, or earned by completing tasks for Daily Dan at Spawn.
Tokens are primarily used to purchase Crates, which contain cosmetics of varying rarities.

Levels
Saintcraft features a Level Rank System with a total of 70 ranks, divided into 10 levels across 7 groups. Your rank is displayed as an icon next to your name in the chat and the tab list.
As your rank increases, you’ll earn more credits per minute and gain access to additional features and exclusive content.
To level up, you can purchase a "Level Up Book" from Nasir, the Merchant NPC located at Spawn.
Market
The Overworld features a virtual marketplace, known simply as the Market. On this platform, players can browse items ("window shop"), as well as buy and sell items using CR$. The Market operates continuously, allowing transactions to occur even when the seller is offline.
When players sell items on the Market, the proceeds are deposited into their Market Bank, a dedicated in-market account. Funds remain in the Market Bank until the player withdraws them. However, the Market Bank imposes a 2% fee every 24 hours on balances that are not withdrawn.
Players can interact with the Market using specific commands:
/market
- View the Market. From here, players can also click on the Bank to manage their funds or view their own listings./market add (price)
- List an item currently held in your hand for sale on the Market./market list (username)
- View items listed by a specific user, if they have any items for sale.
Wanted Levels
Instead of a traditional "Jail" or "Prison" system, the Overworld uses a Wanted System. When a player commits a crime, they may gain a wanted level along with a corresponding bounty. This bounty can be paid by the wanted player at the Sheriff NPC located at Spawn. Once the bounty is paid, the player’s wanted level is removed. Wanted levels do not decrease over time and remain until they are paid off.
If a player with a wanted level is killed or arrested, the bounty will be automatically deducted from their bank account. If the wanted player lacks sufficient funds to cover the entire bounty, they will be sent to jail for 1 second per CR$ of unpaid bounty.
Before being sent to jail, the player must appear before Judge Judy, where they can plead guilty or not guilty. The outcome depends on the player's wanted level, criminal record, and honesty. Based on these factors, the jail sentence may be reduced or increased.
What constitutes a crime and increases a wanted level?
- Griefing or stealing in a non-RP (roleplay) Lore manner.
- Killing another player.
- 50% chance of gaining a wanted level when killing a villager.
- 35% chance of gaining a wanted level when killing a wandering trader.
Lands / Claims
At Saintcraft, a Lands/Claim system is implemented to balance security and roleplaying. Instead of addressing every instance of griefing, this system allows players to protect and manage their territory. Here’s an overview of how it works:
Claiming Land
- Players can claim individual chunks of land using the command
/lands claim
. - If you haven't created a land yet, the system will automatically create one for you when you claim your first chunk.
- The first 12 chunks are free to claim. After that, additional claims cost 300 CR$ or more per chunk.
- Claims must be adjacent. You cannot create gaps between claims. Non-adjacent claims are treated as separate lands.
Managing Your Land
- All claims belong to a "Land", a virtual grouping of your territories.
- Use
/lands rename
to rename your land at no cost. - To share access, you can invite (or trust) other players to your land using
/lands trust <playername>
. - Trusted players have full permissions on your land, allowing them to interact with doors, chests, and other items, as well as build, attack, or kill.
- Players who are not trusted cannot perform any actions on your land, ensuring its protection.
Vacancy and Auctions
- If a land remains vacant (inactive) for 90 days, it will be auctioned off to other players.
- If no one bids on the land during the auction, it will be completely removed from the system.
Commands Overview
/lands claim
- Claim a chunk of land. If you do not have a land yet, it will create one for you automatically./lands rename <newname>
- Rename your land for free./lands trust <playername>
- Invite or trust a player to your land, giving them full permissions./lands menu
- Open the Lands menu, where you can manage your lands and permissions.
Teleportation
Teleportation in Saintcraft is a dynamic and essential feature, providing players with various ways to travel quickly across the Overworld. Below is an explanation of the teleportation options available:
Teleportation Commands
-
Home Teleport: Players can teleport to a bed they have slept in (their home) using
/home
.- It is crucial that the player has actually slept in the bed, not just interacted with it (right-click).
- Sleeping in a new bed, regardless of location, will overwrite the previous home.
-
Random Teleport: The command
/tpr
allows players to teleport to a random location on the map.- Each use of
/tpr
costs 40 CR$.
- Each use of
-
Land Teleport: Players can teleport directly to their claimed land using
/lands spawn
.- This teleport is for donors only.
-
Spawn Teleport: The command
/spawn
teleports players to the world’s spawn point.- This teleport is also free of charge.
Server Map
The Server Map is a digital overview of the entire server, viewed from above. You can access it by using /map
or by visiting https://map.saintcraft.us.
Note: Due to regulations from the Heartlands, real-time player locations are not displayed on the map. Remember, adventurer, coordinates are your best friend!
Oil / Petrol / Fossil Fuels
Saintcraft offers a new layer of resource management with Crude Oil. A hidden gem waiting to be transformed into Petroleum, the most efficient and long-lasting fuel available. Whether you’re looking to power your furnaces or earn some extra in-game currency, mastering the art of oil extraction and refinement is key.
Key Information
Rare Discovery: Oil hides within Coal Ore and Deepslate Coal Ore, appearing in only about 5% of blocks (roughly 1 in every 33 ores).
Extraction Limits: You can only pump the oil 10 times every 10 minutes, ensuring that oil extraction is balanced and strategic.
Extraction Mechanics: Each pump has a 30% chance of yielding Crude Oil, so patience and persistence are essential.
Refining Process: Convert Crude Oil into Petroleum by right-clicking a water-filled cauldron with the oil in hand.
Fuel Efficiency: Petroleum is used by right-clicking a furnace, instantly igniting it with superior fuel efficiency.
Fuel Usage Risk: Petroleum comes with a twist: every time you use it to fuel a furnace, there’s a 50% chance that the fuel bottle will be completely emptied, leaving you with just an empty glass bottle.
Step 1: Locating Oil
Start your journey by equipping a brush and targeting either Coal Ore or Deepslate Coal Ore. Brush the block continuously for about 3–4 seconds. If oil is present, you’ll notice sparks erupting from the ore; an unmistakable sign of hidden Crude Oil. If no sparks appear, the game will inform you that oil is absent, so move on to the next block.
Step 2: Setting Up Your Oil Pump
Once you’ve identified a block with oil, it’s time to set up your extraction rig. Place a lever directly on top of the oil-infused coal ore, and position a barrel immediately beneath it. This exact configuration is required - no alternatives will work. Before starting the pump, make sure the barrel is stocked with empty glass bottles, as they are necessary for collecting the oil.
Step 3: Pumping the Oil
Activate the lever to initiate the pumping process. Each pump action gives you a 30% chance to extract a drop of Crude Oil, which will be stored in the barrel. Remember, if the barrel is full or if there are no empty glass bottles present, the pump won’t operate.
Step 4: Managing the Pump Cooldown
The oil extraction process is throttled to prevent over-harvesting. You are limited to 10 pump actions every 10 minutes. Should you attempt to pump again before the cooldown period expires, the system will display a timer indicating how much time remains. Use this interval to plan your next steps.
Step 5: Refining or Selling Your Oil
With a stock of Crude Oil in hand, you now have two valuable options:
Refining: To transform Crude Oil into Petroleum, fill a cauldron with water. Then, right-click the water-filled cauldron while holding your Crude Oil. This process refines the oil into Petroleum, turning it into a potent fuel for your furnaces.
Selling: If you prefer to earn some extra currency, Crude Oil is highly prized. Visit Nasir’s shop at Spawn, where you can sell your Crude Oil at a rate specified on the “Nasir Oil Index” sign.
Step 6: Powering Your Machines
To put your refined Petroleum to work, simply right-click any furnace while holding it. This action will ignite the furnace immediately, offering an energy boost with unmatched efficiency. Keep in mind that each use of Petroleum comes with a 50% chance that the fuel bottle will be emptied, reverting it to an empty glass bottle. This adds an element of chance to your fuel management, meaning a single bottle could power multiple furnaces if luck is on your side - or it might be spent after just one use.
PVP
At Saintcraft, we believe that PVP is a fundamental aspect of Minecraft gameplay. Without it, players might as well be playing singleplayer. However, to maintain fairness and balance, PVP comes with certain rules and systems.
General PVP Rules
- Engaging in PVP and killing another player automatically warrants a wanted level and a matching bounty.
- This ensures that aggressive behavior has consequences, keeping the game fair for all players.
Fair PVP Mode
To allow consensual battles without penalties, we have implemented Fair PVP Mode, accessible via the command /pvpmode
.
- When you enable
/pvpmode
, you enter PVP Mode. In this state:- If another player kills you, they will not receive a wanted level.
- Your activation of PVP Mode is announced in chat and displayed in your action bar.
- Disabling
/pvpmode
during a fight warns the other player that you have turned it off. - Attempting to manipulate the system by disabling PVP Mode during combat and forcing a wanted level onto the other player is considered a breach of fairplay.
- Such actions are against the rules and will result in punishment by moderators.
Fair PVP Mode allows players to duel and compete without disrupting the broader balance of the game. It ensures that PVP remains an enjoyable, voluntary activity while safeguarding the community’s integrity and fairplay principles.
